Diagnostic DNA chips

The electric DNA-chip technique allows a fast and reproducible expression analysis of process-relevant marker genes during fermentation processes and is a suitable alternative for fast gene expression analyses in competition with the real time RT-PCR.

The electric biochip technique combined with an automated sample preparation establishes a basis for continuous at-line monitoring of the host cell physiology during industrial bioprocesses (Fig. 7 and 8).

Monitoring of bioprocesses

  • Preculture monitoring
  • Monitoring of critical process relevant marker genes for process control
  • Alarm system for detection of nutrient limitations
  • Quality control
